Prof. Mohammad Rofiqul Islam received his B.Sc. & M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) and PhD from Kitami Institute of Technology, Japan. He also worked as JSPS postdoctoral research fellow in Japan for two years. He is now serving as a Professor in Mechanical Engineering of RUET. The major contribution of his research is the production of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels from organic solid wastes by thermal treatment (pyrolysis technology) and utilization them as alternative to conventional fuels; management of solid wastes; energy efficiency; improvement of energy efficiency of submersible pumping system, solar irrigation; and other renewable energy engineering. His research findings have been published in 40 different journals and also he presented the results in 31 international conferences held in Australia, Bangladesh, Italy, Japan, and USA.
